The Commerce Department, Kisan Degree College- Bahraich, celebrated its Annual Function under the guidance of Dr Shaktidev Mishra, The Head of the Department, Dr Satish Singh and the learned faculty of the department, on 09th this month. Sri Jata Shanker Singh, the chairman of the management committee, chaired the conference. The secretary of the management committee, Sri K.P. Singh was chief guest and I was distinguished guest at the meet. A series of cultural events were organized with arts performed by the students of the department. The students who secured highest marks in the year 2015 were awarded different prizes and mementoes. Sankaranti means the movement of the sun from one zodiac sign into another. The sankranti when the Sun leaves the Capricorn ( Makara) , the tenth sign of the zodiac, is called ‘Makar Sankranti’. Makar Sankranti used to fall on 31 December a thousand years ago but now it falls on 14 or 15 January because the date of winter solstice changes by 1 day in every 70 years due to the axial precession of the earth. It is believed that M aan Durga, with a view to obliterating Mahisasur, incarnated at the holy ashram of maharishi Kardam and his wife Devhuti on the day of Makar Sankranti . I wish your hearts, my friends, go erupting like a volcano this New Year, with magma of desire blasting out through the clogged vent of days gone by and with red-hot lumps of love, scorching fame, molten achievements and clouds of joy and mirth being spewed out. On the carousel of time the day of birth repeats, A Sunday jaunt takes me where we did once meet, A photograph in a pile holds my hand to halt, Over the wall of my memory a face oft does vault, An old song on the radio robs me so well of my soul That I feel nothing but a throb across the inner whole. I find a sweet smell around everywhere I thus go past. Pieces of love I still have, though my love I have lost. O god! Raise the same love for my country in me, So this New Year with each bit of it I could delighted be. मैने ऐसे बहुत से लोगों के विचार सुने हैं जो धर्म के नाम से चिढ़ते हैं | किंतु यदि उनकी भावना को झाँकें तो लगेगा कि उनकी यह प्रतिक्रिया ग़लत नहीं है क्योंकि आज या कभी भी धर्म के नाम पर समाज का जितना भला हुआ है उससे कहीं अधिक नुकसान हुआ है | अब देखना यह है कि सांप्रदायिकता या सांप्रदायिक हिंसा का कारण धर्म है या उससे जुड़ी कोई दूसरी चीज़ जो निरन्तर घृणा का कारण बनती रही है | अब यहाँ पर ज़रूरत है यह जानने की कि धर्म है क्या | संस्कृति में धर्म की सबसे पूर्ण और सटीक परिभाषा है: ‘धारयेति इति धर्मः’ अर्थात जो धारण करने (अपनाने) योग्य है वही धर्म है | या यह कह लीजिए कि वह सब कुछ करना धर्म है जो अपने सहित सबके लिए कल्याणकारी हो: जैसे सहायता करना, सेवा करना, सत्य बोलना, दया करना, मिलजुल कर रहना आदि, आदि | यहाँ हम इस तथ्य पर पहुचते हैं कि धर्म मानवताबादी कार्यों की वकालत करता है जो किसी भी सूरत भेद-भाव उत्पन्न नहीं करता और न ही उसके पालन में किसी तरह की हिंसा की कोई गुंजाइश है | फिर क्यों धर्म के नाम पर सदभावना समाप्त होती है और हिंसा भड़क जाया करती है ? इस प्रश्न का उत्तर निकालने पर यदि विचा...
