Ganesh Chaturthi
A ten-day festival is held, commemorating the birth of the god of prosperity and wisdom, Ganesha. It begins on the fourth day of the bright fortnight of Bhadrapada (generally in mid-August or September). The Ganesha idols are installed in pandals, homes and temples; festivities include singing or playing religious songs, dancing to drum beats and lighting up fireworks; and celebrations go through four main rituals: Pranapratishhtha, Shhodashopachara, Uttarpuja, and Ganpati Visarjan. Lord Ganesh is the god of money and prosperity. Those who worship him never suffer a setback and live a happy life. May Lord Ganesh shower us with health, wealth and happiness! Happy Ganesh Chaturthi, everyone!
