An Excerpt from my new book "Festivals with Poetic Greetings"
Basant Panchami also known as Shri Panchami falls between late January and February, on the fifth day of the bright half of the month Magha. It is the festival of knowledge, music and arts, therefore dedicated to the goddess Saraswati. It also marks the arrival of the spring. In West Bengal, Saraswati Puja is observed in the same way as Durga Puja. Since Goddess Saraswati was born on this day, the festival is called ‘Saraswati Jayanti’.
On this day, Goddess Saraswati is worshipped in the morning. Devotees adorn the deity with white or yellow clothes and flowers and offer sweet to her.
The day of Vasant Panchami is significant for Vidya Arambha, the ritual of introducing children to the world of formal learning. Most schools and colleges organize Saraswati Puja on this day.
Vasant Panchami is one of the most auspicious bathing (Shahi Snan) days during the grand spiritual gathering known as Prayag Mahakumbh.
Greetings
Long and cold are winter nights days are very short;
When the sun is visible not head and heart stop.
Vasanti environment brings us warmth and Sun,
Blooming blossom welcomes the Goddess of wisdom.
On the Joyous Panch Tithi the waxing moon of Magh
The Birth of goddess Sarasvati celebrate we all.
Happy Basant Panchami, everyone!

Like plants all appear in the world;
Each then in a keen and barmy bud.
Strongly scented, brightly coloured,
Full of youth, their lips nectared,
Young, smiling flowers blossom.
Gorgeous girls, their beauty awesome,
Entice hungry pollinators to hover
Around them and the field all over.
Seeds they produce reproduce;
Again by beauty teens are seduced.
Spring is the season of blossom, birth and beauty.
I wish you and family a blessed Basant Panchami!

The cuckoo pours her heart out
Somewhere in the leaves;
She is too high on the scent
Of your love it receives.
In flames of fancy you go up,
Feeling pleasant pains;
Muses make you have a soak
In the wisdom rains!
I wish you both a life with the charm and beauty of Basant!

Uplifting Words
However scholarly and illustrious you are but you are a common man outside your area of knowledge.
You speak books about yourself while you talk about other people.
Everyone else not cares for me;
Everyone else not matters to me.
