The Red Glow of the Dawn

I have just composed ‘The Red Glow of the Dawn’, dedicating it to the Finance Minister, Sri Arun Jaitley, and would like to offer this poem to him as a gift on the Eve of India’s 69th Independence Day.

India needs a Krishna and his brave Parth again
Or a Chandra Gupta with the big Kautilya-Brain

When the glassed-in country is not manned,
Ambitious Politics has a hammer in his hand,

Lawmakers are lawbreakers, priests are cheats,
Dream dresses up as a social worker, chastity weeps,

Heads and Henchmen harvest the country’s crops,
To a lower level everyday ethics in democracy drops.

But she, the mother of both the brave and brains,
Has already reproduced her two sons all-time greats.

The nation believes they will eradicate double agents,
Bring the same fair system of our golden governance.

Look, there is a dimly visible leaf-shoot and a fountain!
A new life has begun to enter the dried up garden.

Stars are turning out behind the red glow of the Dawn,
The worshiper at the Ganga stands, chanting Pranam.
