Two people stood clashing with each other. One slapped the other and the other in return slapped the first one. Meanwhile, a big man arrived there. "Hey, why do you fight like this?" he yelled at them.
“This man intends to snatch money from my pocket,” said the first one.
“He’s lying,” responded the second. “All the money he has in his pocket is mine and not his.”
“You liar – you’ll mug in broad daylight!” said the big man to the second one, and so saying, he slapped him hard across his face.
Just then another big man emerged. “He’s certainly a deadly bandit,” he said. “I’ll beat him to death.” With that he started beating the second man brutally.
When he finally fell unconscious, the three walked along the road hand in hand.
“Friend,” began the first big man. “Trust me, I’m on the right side of you and nobody will ever dare to hit you in the right side of your face.”
“Well, I’ll protect you on the left side,” assured the second big man.
They walked together a few yards quite friendly. Then the first big man mischievously slapped the man on the left cheek.
“You devil,” shouted the second big man, “how dare you hit my friend on his left cheek!” He raised his hand and slapped the man on his right cheek.
Thus they kept beating the man till he was dead and the money went into their pockets. This is what is happening with Syria.
