Shri Narendra Modi was Sworn in as Prime Minister


The newly elected MPs of the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance elected Shri Narendra Modi as their leader during a parliamentary party meeting at Samvidhan Sadan on Friday, 07 June 2024. Shri Rajnath Singh proposed Modi's name as the leader of the NDA Parliamentary Party and the proposal was seconded by his party colleagues as well as top NDA leaders. Thereafter Sri Modi met the President to stake a claim as the Prime Minister.

Shri Narendra Modi was sworn in as Prime Minister for a record third term on Sunday, 09 June 2024, as he is only the second leader to win a third consecutive term as Prime Minister after Pt Jawaharlal Nehru. 71 ministers consisting of 30 Cabinet Ministers, 5 Ministers of State with Independent Charge, and 36 Ministers of State took an oath of loyalty to the government. It was a grand ceremony at the Presidential Palace in Delhi, with the presence of about nine thousand famous people including heads of government from Bhutan, Nepal, Mauritius, Seychelles, Maldives, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Shri Modi had already thanked voters for their mandate and affirmed his avowed intention to do everything to eradicate corruption and poverty and to empower the poor and middle class. Congratulations to him and the entire team for this wonderful achievement! Wish him all the best for a greater start and for taking the country to newer heights.
